Making Little Changes for Big Impact
You’ve probably spent some time collecting items and developing a personal style for your home. Well, how great is it that you can change out that style in just a matter of minutes – and without out the hassle of painting or the cost of buying new accessories?
Slipcovers are the ideal solution to transforming what you already have with the snap of a finger. Let’s take a quick tour of your home and see just how slipcovers will help.
Living Room.
Maybe you have a sofa, loveseat, and/or chair on which the fabric is identical in pattern and color. How about putting a slipcover in a complimentary color on just the sofa to make it have more presence? Then, add in a few throw pillows that tie in the color of the slipcover, existing fabric, and another color already found in the room. You can also do this with the chair and/or loveseat. Of course, you can slipcover them in the same slipcover fabric, pattern and color and change the entire look of the room all at once. Be sure to select a slipcover fabric and pattern that will blend with the existing look of your room now – e.g., traditional, contemporary, country, Asian, etc.
Dining Room.
Wood, wood everywhere. You’re dining room is no different from most other homes. There’s a table, chairs, possibly a buffet and/or hutch, and various other pieces of wood furniture. Sure, there’s a little fabric on the seat covers and maybe on the windows…but you can change all that. Put slipcovers over all your chairs. Pick the same color and pattern for each one, or mix and match using the colors found already. This is one of the best places in the home to add that touch of color and make it all that you want it to be. And, you can choose to cover just the seat and back of each chair, or the chair from the floor to the top. The possibilities are endless!
Family Room/Den.
If this is the main place in your home where everyone gathers, and where you spend a lot of time, a slipcover is your answer to completely change the look without altering the surroundings. Some excellent slipcover choices are faux leather or suede for that real “den” type atmosphere. Or perhaps you want a light and airy feeling. If so, then a slipcover in cotton twill or canvas will work. And, of course, you never have to worry about spills and such (which are undoubtedly common in this room) because your slipcover(s) can quickly be removed and thrown in the washer!
Master Bedroom.
Next to the bed and your main furniture pieces, do you have a great place for a nice chair or small loveseat? Since most bedding manufacturers don’t provide coordinating slipcovers for furniture in the same material, you can easily find a slipcover to match the color, pattern, and style of your bedding.
Guest Room.
Any guest in your home will always appreciate having a chair or small sofa to relax on. And, if you have a guest – perhaps a relative who comes to town quite frequently, how exciting it will be for them to come to a new room each time? Change out the slipcover according to the time of year or the preference of your guest and you’re certain to be receiving a bevy of compliments time and time again!
Kids Room.
The whirlwind of activity never stops, and those little minds are always looking for new and fun things to experience. Surprise them with a new slipcover and watch them giggle with glee. And, because of their ease-of-use, select a couple of different bold slipcover colors so that you can change them out weekly as you do the laundry. (After all, you know the little ones are gonna spill – making slipcovers the perfect accessory to keep their room looking clean and fresh!
So, we’ve gone from one end of your house to the other and just by changing out slipcovers, you’ve given the entire place a facelift. Bet it only took you what…a few hours. Amazing, huh?
