Slipcovers are used to maintain the beauty of your furniture. It purpose is to keep off dirt, dust and prevent stains from getting on the original material. If you’re on a budget, going out and purchasing new furniture every time it gets stained or starts to get old is not feasible. Having slipcovers are the next best thing to having new furniture for your home.

When you clean the fabric for the slipcovers, use mild soap or a shampoo with foam. Of course, don’t forget the water to wash off the suds. Brush off any stains that may be on the fabric. Use gentle strokes while doing this. Whatever soap you use to clean, make sure that it is mild and has germ-fighting power.

Before you go full force with cleaning your slipcovers, do a sample on a portion of the fabric. It’s best to try this on a part that is not visible. When you get the results and it comes out good, then you can proceed to clean the rest of the fabric. It’s always good to do a test run to see how the cleanser will work with the fabric.

You should also use a vacuum cleaner on a regular basis to remove any dust from the slipcover. Keeping the slipcovers dust-free will help people that have allergies. There will also be less germs floating around. It’s important to vacuum them on a consistent basis.

However, if you really want to make sure the cleaning is thorough; it’s not a bad idea to remove the slipcover and shake off the dirt and dust that may be lingering. When vacuuming, it’s better to use a small hand-held device for best results. Plus, smaller ones are lighter in weight.
